WHAT HAPPENED?
 
Apple released a new version of the Safari browser for OS X 10.7.5 (Lion) and OS X 10.8 (Mountain Lion) to address multiple vulnerabilities.

AFFECTED SYSTEMS:
 

  • OS X Lion v10.7.5
  • OS X Lion Server v10.7.5
  • OS X Mountain Lion v10.8 and v10.8.1

 
 
WHAT'S THE PROBLEM?
 
There are a couple of vulnerabilities listed but the most severe could potentially be used to allow a hacker to take over your computer.
 
 
HOW DO I PROTECT MY COMPUTER?
 
Update your software
 

  1. If you have a computer support coordinator (CSC), no action on your part is required.
  2. If you do not have a CSC or they do not support your computer, updates may be obtained through the Apple Software Update application for OS X Lion.
  3. For OS X Mountain Lion systems, Safari 6.0.1 is included with OS X v10.8.2.
