Impact

This issue has no known impact on the security of your data or MyResearch environment and only affects the client on your desktop. The issue is limited to Macintosh users.

We have had several reports of MyResearch users on Macintosh operating systems not able to access theMyResearch Secure Global Desktop.  This is apparently due Apple’s disabling Java in response to security issues ( Please seehttp://www.bostonglobe.com/business/2013/02/01/apple-blocks-java-macs-due-vulnerabilities/24MwnDpwVjGOLVLgUpcMiK/story.html).  This issue has no known impact on the security of your data or MyResearch environment and  only affects the client on your desktop.  The issue is limited to Macintosh users.

Our new VM-Ware Client is not affected by this issue and is available to all MyResearch Users.  Please contact the ITS-ARS Support Team at ITS-ARSSupport@UCSF.EDU for activation of the new desktop.

We are actively investigating the issues and are doing everything we can to return service via Secure Global Desktop (old MyResearch).

Feel free to contact Kimberly Romero or myself if there are other concerns, questions or issues.

Thank you for your support and patience.
