ITS Network Security & Architecture will migrate all Wireless Access Points (WAPs) in the Mission Bay Community Center Building to a new, more robust wireless controller on the Mission Bay Campus. This is one piece to a re-architecting initiative in the wireless environment to reduce costs to UCSF, provide an Enterprise solution with redundancy, and improve service to our end users.
Each individual WAP in the Rock Hall Building will be down approx. 2-3 minutes. The total time to do this migration of all the WAPs will be approximately 3 hour. Impact as an end user connected to the wireless network: • UCSFwpa or UCSFguest, during the migration of the WAPs may experience a degradation of service or loss of connectivity for the 2-3 minutes migration. • Changing from Public IP space to Private IP space • Connecting wireless to a Server in the cloud may need to work with the cloud firewall administrator to allow new IP address range, please contact Sue Asay • Certain locations reserved for mobile access points will be reconfigured and will not allow access to Internet” No impact to the wired network.
