OS X Safari Users

WHAT HAPPENED?

Apple released security updates for Safari for OS X Mavericks, Yosemite, and El Capitan to address multiple vulnerabilities.

Advanced Users: For a complete description of the security enhancement and affected software refer to About the Security Content of Safari 9.0.2 at https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT205639.

IT does not recommend upgrading to OS X El Capitan until further testing can be done as the new operating system is incompatible with nearly all of UCSF’s security/reporting software (Symantec Endpoint Protection, DDPE, and BigFix).

AFFECTED SYSTEMS:

  • OS X Mavericks v10.9.5
  • OS X Yosemite v10.10.5
  • OS X El Capitan v10.11

WHAT'S THE PROBLEM?
Out of date software could allow a hacker to take control of your device or expose sensitive data.

HOW DO I PROTECT MY COMPUTER?
