The Symantec “Brightmail” outbound email transport authority has reached end-of-life (see https://it.ucsf.edu/projects/symantec-brightmail-retirement). UCSF IT will retire this email system component.
During this upgrade window, no impact to internal email delivered is anticipated. Customers may experience brief periods where email sent to external recipients (e.g. outlook.com, gmail.com, cgl.ucsf.edu) will be queued on the system while the new email routing pathway is established. All queued email will be delivered upon completion of the routing changes.

Additional Information: Application/Service owners with systems configured to relay email to external recipients through the mail@UCSF system should test their systems after this upgrade operation to ensure proper delivery.
