Replace an Existing Android Profile

The change to your primary email address requires that your mobile device email configuration be updated as well to ensure normal synchronization.

Important: We recommend connecting your device to the UCSFwpa network (instructions do NOT work when connected to UCSFguest), or that you have a full strength signal from your ISP, when taking the following steps to reconfigure your email profile.

Delete the existing configuration profile

  1. From the Home screen, go to your email Inbox.

  2. From your Inbox, click the Menu icon in the lower right-hand corner to get to the Settings menu.

  3. From the contextual menu, select Settings

  4. Click the "Remove Account" function at the bottom of the Settings menu.

  5. You will be prompted to confirm the remove account command. Click the "OK" button to confirm the remove account command.

Add a New Email Profile

  1. From the Settings>General menu, click Add Account.

  2. From within the Account Setup wizard, enter your email address and password in their respective fields. Click the "Next" button.

  3. You will be prompted to choose what type of account; select "Exchange".

  4. You will now be prompted to enter additional account information. The available domains are; UCSFMC, SOM or campus; in the Domain\username field enter your account domain and username separated by a "\" (if you do not know your account domain, please call the UCSF Service Desk at 415-514-4100, and a Service Desk agent will assist you).

  6. Enter account your password in the Password field.

  7. In the Server field, enter

  8. Click the Next button.

  9. You will see a security administration alert, click the "OK" button to continue.

  10. The next screen will present a number of available options for your email account. Select the functions that you wish to enable. Click the "Done" button.

  11. You will now be prompted to activate the device administrator, click the "Activate" button to continue.

  12. After the device administrator has been activated, you will be prompted to name your profile. Choose any meaningful name for your profile, and click the "Next" button.

  13. Congratulations!, your new profile has been set up. Exit back to the Home screen.
