From the CIO - October 2015
With IT security being a major priority across the UC system, I want to emphasize Chancellor Sam Hawgood's recent comments on the importance of individual participation and cooperation with our accelerated efforts. Protecting the data of our patients, students and staff at UCSF must become as automatic in our everyday actions and steeped in our culture as protecting our wallet,or locking our doors.
This quarterly update includes several immediate opportunities to participate in our IT security efforts, so please take a few minutes to familiarize yourself with them along with our other business updates. For those of you who have already registered via BigFix, and encrypted your personal devices used for UCSF business, we thank you.
While IT Security continues to be a dominant backdrop within IT, my team is pleased to share some lighter fare: Sharecase 2015. This fun and free, one-day expo will be held at Mission Bay this Thursday, October 22, and will highlight the latest Information Technology services offered at UCSF. I encourage anyone who is interested in learning more about how technology can streamline and improve your work outcomes to join us at Sharecase.

Benioff Children’s Hospital Oakland Human Resource System Implementation Completed
Since the merger between UCSF and Benioff Children’s Hospital Oakland (BCHO) was finalized, both the UCSF and BCHO integration teams have successfully implemented the latest release of PeopleSoft HR for BCHO users in just under eight months. This critical project was completed through the joint efforts and hard work of both organizations.
As a result of the newly implemented Human Resources platform, BCHO now offers a streamlined onboarding process for new hires, improved HR reporting for the end users, real time employee record updates and integration to BCHO’s Meditech Payroll system. UCSF will continue to provide PeopleSoft technical and infrastructure support for BCHO. We will also continue to roll out enhancements and new functionalities for the end users.
