Software Upgrades: UPlan, PeopleSoft Financials, and PeopleSoft HCM
IT has upgraded three major software systems in recent months: UPlan was updated to version 220.127.116.11, and both PeopleSoft Financials and PeopleSoft Human Capital Management (HCM) were upgraded to version 9.2. These upgrades add new features and an improved user experience including new WorkCenters, dashboards, and compatibility with mobile technology.
UPlan, the Hyperion Budgeting and Planning system, was upgraded in January to version 18.104.22.168. UPlan is a centralized, Excel and Web-based planning, budgeting, and forecasting solution that integrates financial and operational planning processes and improves organizational predictability. The upgrade has resulted in significant performance improvements when accessing forms, reducing retrieval time by almost 80%. The upgrade enables users to run live reports, includes an improved user interface for viewing aggregate employee data in planning forms (not possible in previous releases), and offers a variety of other new features and improvements (detailed information available here).
The IT and Business teams completed the PeopleSoft Financials upgrade in late March. The upgrade was extensive, covering nine modules and a number of major integrations with both internal and external systems such as BearBuy and MyExpense. One notable new feature allows journal approvers to approve or deny journals directly from supported mobile devices. Further details are available here.
Peoplesoft HCM has been UCSF Health’s HR system since late 2010. This HCM upgrade is being studied by many across the UC system who are planning a UC-wide upgrade for both HR and Payroll systems.
HCM’s Candidate Gateway, the applicant portal for UCSF Health job openings, has been streamlined and given a fresh look and feel. A major new feature is the guided application process, which provides applicants with a visual display of the application steps and their current progress, and has led to an increase in successful completion rates.
HCM’s ePerformance 9.2 is the system of record for UCSF Health manager and supervisor performance evaluations. The new version streamlines the performance review process using an integrated ePerformance Workcenter, which now provides a checklist of steps and related statuses. A user can customize the home page in the system with widgets and alerts displaying summary reports of personal HR data or direct report data.
