UCSF Collaboration Suite - Accelerated Rollout
With our workforce now highly distributed between home and office we are in need of collaboration tools more than ever. UCSF IT is accelerating the rollout of the full Microsoft Office 365 cloud-based suite of applications. They have initiated a rapid engineering, testing, training, and rollout effort with the goal of making these tools available to remote and onsite employees in the mid-April timeframe.
The initial focus will include:
- Microsoft Office product access from anywhere including: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, Outlook
- The collaboration platform, Microsoft Teams; highly effective in allowing distributed teams to communicate and collaborate efficiently in near real-time.
- OneDrive: Secure document storage, sharing and collaboration allowing multiple team members to edit a document simultaneously. Employees will also be able to access their UCSF Box files from within Office 365 applications.
Simultaneously, a rollout, training and solutions support plan is being developed aimed at enabling UCSF’s distributed workforce to take advantage of these tools.
In addition to productivity, our goal is to enable our teams, who are all supporting the UCSF mission in these difficult and disorienting times, to feel connected. UCSF IT will communicate further as their plan comes together.
