Scheduled Maintenance: UCSF VA-1700 Owens (CAAN #3558) Deactivation of Wireless Controller

Status Type

Scheduled Maintenance

Date and Time

Tuesday, December 17, 2013 - 06:00 to 07:00

Reason

On Tuesday 12/17/2013 at 6:00am ITS will be decommissioning the current wireless controller and migrating the Wireless Access Points (WAPs) to a new, more robust wireless controller on the Mission Bay Campus. This is one piece to a re-architecting initiative in the wireless environment to reduce costs to UCSF, provide Enterprise solution with redundancy, and improve service to our end users.

Impact

Each WAP at UCSF 1700 Owens, floors 3 & 4 will be migrated to another controller. The individual WAP will be down approx. 2-3 minutes. The total time to do this migration of all the WAPs will be approximately 1 hour. Impact as an end user connected to the wireless network, UCSFwpa or UCSFguest, during the migration of the AP you are connected to you may experience a degradation of service or loss of connectivity for the 2-3 minutes migration. No impact to the VA wired network.
