Using mail@UCSF

Getting an Email Account

  • Faculty and staff that do not have a departmental CSC should contact the IT Service Desk at 415-514-4100.
  • Faculty and staff that have a departmental Computer Support Coordinator (CSC) should work with their CSC to set up their email account.
  • Computer Support Coordinators that manage their own Active Directory Organization Unit, can mail-enable their Active Directory customer accounts under the Special Requests section of the employee self-service page at; https://ucsf.service-now.com/ess/com.
  • Student email accounts are set up by the Registrar's Office. Students should contact the Registrar's Office for inquiries about their initial email username and password.

UCSF Active Directory Account Mananger
The mail@UCSF Password Reset Tool provides a convenient way of managing your user account. Once you set up your profile you can reset your password and unlock your account by answering personal security questions.

Mobile Device Access to mail@UCSF (BlackBerry and ActiveSync)
UCSF ITS provides mobile access to email, calendaring and contact information for those with a mail@UCSF account. There are two types of mobile device synchronization services: BlackBerry or ActiveSync.

Standard mail@UCSF service is available to all UCSF students, faculty and staff free of charge*.

The following services are available to faculty and staff.

  • Increased storage
    • Additional storage above the initial 4000 megabytes is available
      • Requires a business-need justification be included with your request
      • ITS reserves the right to review account usage and recommend alternative solutions
  *Standard service is defined as one 4000 megabyte mailbox per University student, faculty or staff member.
