Fidelity Data Breach Exposes Thousands of Accounts

  • Author: Tanya Jansen

  • Date:

Thousands of Fidelity Investments customers may have had their personal information stolen amid a data breach that occurred in August 2024.

Several UCs have reported to UCOP that users who are affected are having their Fidelity account credentials changed and then accounts attempted to be emptied.

Users have reported receiving emails from Fidelity notifying them that their account credentials have been changed.

Please follow these important steps to protect your account:

  • Enable multi-factor authentication and change your Fidelity password (as a precaution if they haven’t been notified that they were affected, or as a requirement if they have been notified they were affected)
  • If you receive a “your password has been changed email” that you did not initiate, call Fidelity as soon as possible to ensure account security.
