UC systemwide GAAD event marks unprecedented attendance
The University of California’s systemwide Global Accessibility Awareness Day (GAAD) had record-breaking participation across the UC system. The event, which was designed to amplify the importance of digital accessibility and inclusion, witnessed an impressive turnout.
We had 462 registrants and 303 attendees. That’s a 66% attendance rate, which is unheard of! – Judy Thai, event committee member
This year’s theme was “Putting Together the Accessibility Puzzle Pieces” attracted participants from diverse educational institutions such as Arizona State University, Brigham Young University, Indiana University, Whitman College, University of Alberta, and the California Community Colleges, as well as notable companies such as Level Access, PWC, Red Hat, Turn It In, and Workday.

UCSF GAAD celebration returns to campus with a hybrid event
UCSF marked Global Accessibility Awareness Day (GAAD) with a successful hybrid event. For the first time since the pandemic, UCSF accessibility allies gathered in person to share a taco bar meal and learn tips and tricks for accessible PowerPoints with virtual participants.
Attendees appreciated the engaging content, including the enlightening graphics contrasting good and bad accessibility practices.
Feedback from the event revealed a strong demand for more workshops on similar topics.
