Who is this for?

This monthly event is for UCSF website owners, developers, and content creators/editors. Whether you have a UCSF Drupal Site Builder website or a custom website on a different platform, join us to discuss automated tools such as Siteimprove and best practices for digital accessibility. We want to create and support a culture that sustains the continuous monitoring of UCSF websites for accessibility.

We start the session with a brief announcement and then we set the agenda based on the needs of the attendees. Carve out time each month to monitor your website for accessibility.

Agenda items are prioritized by topic, with questions specific to the Siteimprove accessibility module discussed first, followed by general digital accessibility questions. If you are new to digital accessibility, don't feel pressured to help create the agenda. You can simply absorb and/or ask questions.

We typically discuss best practices for using Siteimprove's accessibility reports and how to resolve the WCAG issues it automatically flags. Get to know others who are committed to creating inclusively designed and compliant public-facing UCSF websites where everyone, especially those who use assistive technologies, can access online information.

Because accessibility is a continuous process, we invite you to share the progress you're making on your website's Siteimprove Accessibility score and any other steps you're taking on the path to digital accessibility. We love to celebrate your successes. We're also here to help you with your challenges.

Digital accessibility Q&A

You get to set the agenda with your questions about onboarding users and sites to Siteimprove and using Siteimprove's accessibility module. Common topics include:

  • Onboarding new users for Siteimprove
  • Verifying your page count is accurate
  • Prioritizing the accessibility issues
  • Using color contrast checker tools
  • Exporting reports on PDFs and videos for manual checks

If we don't have the answers, we can explore the Siteimprove training resources and other free tools and training.
