How-to video: Create and edit a page
Create your page
Before you create a page, you should have the content ready. We recommend you develop, review, and finalize your content in an MSWord document, called a copydeck. The copydeck includes all of your website content. Organize it section by section, page by page to easily identify flow and all on-page text and images.
Assemble all of your text and related assets: Headshots, slider/hero images, graphs, charts, Box links, etc.
Once you have the contents ready, you should do the following:
- Go to Content > Add content > Page
- Click on the content tab, scroll to Add Content and click on Page.
- Add a page title and then add your content to the page.
You can upload images, create tables, or insert columns on the page by clicking on the icons at the top of the WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) section, which is similar to the Word doc editor.
Create your Homepage
The homepage layout is distinct from a Basic page, most notably because of the Homepage hero banner. The hero banner is your visual welcome mat for your website. The banner requires an image, which should reflect the purpose or function of your department and brief introductory text.
Blocks
A block is content created that can be designated for specific areas on a page as well as specific pages on the website. For example, you can have a right-hand column block that displays a "Donation" block on every page of the website. It could also reside on the Homepage only.
We use blocks to create global content that can be used on all pages or selected pages, as needed.
How to edit a block
- Hover over the right-hand corner of the block, i.e., right-hand navigation, and click on the pencil
- Click on "Configure Block" to update the block title
- Once you have added a title, make sure you click "Save"
- Then click the pencil again and click on "Edit
- Edit will allow you to update the content in the editor
