Siteimprove

Siteimprove Training Academy

Our partner Siteimprove offers 48 total courses on digital accessibility for websites, the virtual classroom, accessible PowerPoint decks and more. Siteimprove is free for use to anyone with a UCSF email address.

Courses are self-paced and can be completed at whichever time works best for you – each course is estimated to take about an hour depending on individual learning preferences.

It takes less than 2 minutes to log in to Siteimprove. Skip ahead to the 40:07 timestamp in this hour-long video about Siteimprove for a demo of a UCSF user accessing the training academy in less than 2 minutes.

Siteimprove Accessibility Education Community Webinars

Access the Siteimprove Accessibility Education Community Archive of monthly webinars. No login required.

The most popular webinar is Browsing the Web with a Screen Reader. If you are new to assistive technology and don't know what a screen reader is, this webinar is for you. (If you only have 5 minutes to learn about screen readers, check out the 5-minute screen reader demo video on our UCSF IT website.)

The May 2022 Siteimprove webinar hosted by Keith Bundy, Siteimprove Accessibility Community Consultant, covered the upcoming release of Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) Version 2.2. This version is set to be completed and published by September. Each of the proposed updates and their impact were reviewed. If you were unable to attend Keith's May session, or would like to revisit the information covered, you can review the slides from the webinar available for download. If you want to read deeper into the specifics of the WCAG 2.2 updates, visit the W3C page for the updates.

Office of Civil Rights (OCR)

The U.S. Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights is proud to announce a 20-part Video Series covering a variety of topics on digital access in education, including how people with disabilities use technology, applicable Federal regulations, and identifying and remediating barriers to access.

Whether you are in the educational field or not, these videos have wide ranging coverage for those who want to know: What makes technology accessible for individuals with disabilities? And how can I make my site or platform more accessible?
