How to Request Access

Canva will be available on the web to UCSF users including faculty, staff, and learners on December 10, 2025. Canva will be free for learners with an active UCSF email address, but there is a cost for employees. A Canva license will cost $115 per person for a fiscal year and will be billed to each department on a prorated basis.

Enter a ServiceNow ticket with your chartstring and the name(s) to purchase your Canva license(s). Your department will be billed on a prorated basis for the fiscal year in which it is ordered. Read more about purchasing and licensing Canva.

Description

Canva is an online graphic design platform for creating graphics and presentations. Canva provides users with the tools to create content ranging from images, videos, and gifs to posters, websites, booklets, and multimedia presentations among other options. Canva is an invaluable tool for helping you level up your design skills, even if you’re just getting started.

Your UCSF Canva Pro account will come with 60+ readymade templates and all the official UCSF logos, colors and patterns. Take advantage of these exciting resources to simplify your work and ensure your projects follow UCSF brand standards.

NOTE: UCSF prioritizes making all content accessible. When you create using Canva, check your work using the integrated design accessibility tool. Also consult UCSF’s Digital Accessibility Project for guidance on WCAG compliance.

  • Create eye-catching graphics to enhance newsletters, e-mail campaigns, event announcements, invitations, and other promotional and resource materials.

Requirements and limitations

  • To access Canva, you will need a web browser and a UCSF email address instead of the Canva desktop application.  NOTE: Canva should not be purchased for UCSF resource accounts as these email accounts cannot authenticate to Canva and departments should purchase individual accounts.
  • Canva is not permitted for use with information classified as P3 (Sensitive) or P4 (Restricted), and please avoid including such data in your Canva projects. For more information about these types of data, review the UCSF protection level classifications.
