UCSF Adobe Licensing

UCSF has a discounted licensing agreement with Adobe for Devices used for UCSF Business and UCSF-owned devices. UCSF does not have a site license agreement for any Adobe products.

For students, devices not used for UCSF business and not owned by UCSF will need to purchase licenses directly from Adobe.

For Students: Adobe Creative Cloud for students and teachers | Adobe Creative Cloud

Non-UCSF: Adobe Creative Cloud | Details and products | Adobe

For Adobe Acrobat: IT Field Services has purchased limited Adobe Acrobat Pro licenses for our supported users (ITFS Basic or Premium, Medical Center or BCH-Oakland) on UCSF-owned devices.  Please click here for more info.

For users that are ITFS Hourly support, not supported, and BYOD devices will need to purchase VIP licenses from Dell.

For Creative Cloud: Creative Cloud Suite contains Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat Pro, Premiere Pro, InDesign, and many more apps.

For Individual Components:  If you want to purchase Photoshop, Illustrator, etc., individually, you will need to purchase it using VIP Licenses.

Adobe Licenses

***UCSF recommends using ETLA licenses.  Purchasing, renewing, and managing licenses is more convenient. ***

There are two types of licenses, VIP and ETLA, which use different account types.

  • ETLA uses Enterprise ID (aka Company of School Account), which is integrated with UCSF MyAccess.
  • VIP uses Adobe's login system (Adobe ID aka Personal Account).
account-types

***We do not recommend mixing licenses/account types under any scenario. You can only log in as one account type on a system.  ***

For example, if you have Photoshop (VIP licensed) and Acrobat Pro (ETLA licensed) and log on using your Adobe ID (VIP), it will only activate Photoshop but not Acrobat Pro.
