UCSF IT is upgrading our standard UCSFwpa configuration for Macs to authenticate to our secure wireless network, UCSFwpa. Instead of using usernames and passwords, individual Mac computers and users will now be assigned unique identity certificates for authentication. 

Macs that are not connected to UCSFwpa during this upgrade will automatically receive the upgraded connection without any user action required. The next time your Mac is at UCSF, it will automatically connect to UCSFwpa using the new configuration. However, Macs that are already connected to UCSFwpa during the upgrade will receive a BigFix notification to take action. This action will require a temporary disconnection from UCSFwpa in order to proceed with the required configuration upgrade.

To ensure the system load is balanced, the upgrade will not be rolled out to all Macs simultaneously. Shared Mac workstations, self-managed Macs, and specially exempted Macs are not included in this current phase of the UCSFwpa wireless connection upgrade.
