This October, as the digital leaves turn and the air buzzes with the byte of autumn, the University of California San Francisco IT is thrilled to participate in the UC Cybersecurity Awareness Month (UC CAM) celebration. We invite you to dive into the world of cybersecurity with a series of enlightening and engaging events and contests. Spearheaded by the National Cybersecurity Alliance, Cybersecurity Awareness Month is a nationwide initiative that UCSF is proud to sponsor. Together with other UC campuses, we’re gearing up to enhance your cyber knowledge and strengthen our collective defense against digital threats.

From IS-3 to a Spooktacular Risk Registry

UCSF’s Data Security Compliance team delved into the shadows of IS-3, mapping it to ominous security frameworks and weaving in the spectral guidance of NIST 800-221 to confront chilling policy gaps. With the specter of external reliance exorcised, IT Security fortified its defenses against lurking risks, conjuring connections, summoning standardized risk language, and taming chaotic risk data into a hauntingly updated registry.

Phish Alarm Reporting Contest Winners Announced!

Celebrate the vigilance of our community members who have excelled in reporting potential phishing threats. The five people who report the most potential phishing messages using the Phish Alarm button between August 1, 2025, and October 31, 2025, will be recognized as Phish Alarm Champions with an official certificate, and one person will win a $50 Amazon Gift Card.

UCSF CAM Flyer Contest Winners Announced

Celebrate our community members who promoted UC CAM. The person who places the most UCSF CAM flyers in UCSF-approved locations (e.g., designated cork boards in break rooms, hallways, etc.) will be recognized with a UCSF CAM Champion official certificate and a $50 Amazon Gift Card. Document your postings with photos and send them to [email protected] for entry. Link to flyer (must be logged into Office 365).
