Enrolling in Grammarly

This is an essential resource for communications professionals and valuable for all faculty, staff, and learners. 

Restrictions 

Due to security restrictions, please do not accept this offer if you are on a clinical shared machine. 

To access Grammarly for the first time, you will receive an email from noreply@ucsf.edu informing you that you have been invited to Grammarly. Please follow the instructions listed below for your computer OS.

If you did not receive a Grammarly Invite, please fill out this Grammarly Request Form and one will be granted. Once completed you will receive an email letting you know you have been invited. 

Once logged in, you will be redirected to the apps.grammarly.com page, where you can download the desktop applications and the web browser extensions. Support for using Grammarly on mobile devices will come at a later date.

Grammarly for Windows and Macs 

You will need to download the Grammarly app from the Grammarly website. The following instructions will assist you with navigating the process for accessing, downloading, and installing Grammarly for your Windows or Mac workstations:

  1. From the Grammarly homepage, select the Log in option
  2. Enter using your UCSF email address before clicking Continue
  3. The UCSF log in screen will load, enter your UCSF email address and password before selecting the Sign in button 
  4. After Grammarly loads, select the Apps button from the left-hand navigation
  5. Depending on your system type, click the Install button next to Grammarly for Windows or Grammarly for Macs install link
     
    NOTE: The application will download into your downloads folder. You can install Grammarly by double-clicking on the GrammarlyInstaller file. After the installer loads, you will need to click on the Continue to load Grammarly.
  6. When prompted, click the Activate Grammarly button before logging into Grammarly
  7. Grammarly will then appear in your system tray (Lower-right corner - Windows) or menu bar (Mac)
  8. Grammarly is ready to use! Simply open any app or website and start typing — you will now see the floating Grammarly icon, which means Grammarly will automatically start checking your text!

Note: Grammarly for New Teams on a Mac is still in development. 

System Requirements

Grammarly for Windows supports only Windows 10 or newer. 
Grammarly for Mac supports only macOS Sierra (10.12) or newer.
