Project Overview
Microsoft has announced that SharePoint 2010 will soon reach end of life. End of life is the point at which a product is no longer supported by the vendor. In practical terms, this means no more security updates or patches, and the vendor can no longer be engage to resolve operational issues as they occur.
UCSF IT migrated the Campus and School of Medicine (SOM) SharePoint 2010 farms to our SharePoint Online service last year. We are now working to migrate the UCSF Medical Center SharePoint 2010 farm into our existing SharePoint Online service.
Timeline
We have engaged the vendor, AdaptivEdge, to execute the migration. Currently, we are still analyzing the sites and their content. We will publish a high-level timeline here when it is available.
In broad strokes, the current plan is:
- Complete a baseline migration of all SharePoint sites on the system.
- Perform any necessary remediation to the migrated content.
- Engage site owners for User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
- Finish with a cut-over migration of any content created after.
