Closed Captioning Now Included With Zoom
-
Author: Tanya Jansen
- Date:
Zoom at UCSF now offers automatic Live Transcription (closed captioning) for meetings and webinars.* The new feature uses artificial intelligence to convert spoken word into text, in real-time. Designed to improve digital accessibility of Zoom meetings and webinars, it displays what the speaker is saying as text at the bottom of the meeting video.
When using this new feature, keep in mind:
- Only the Meeting/Webinar Host can enable Live Transcription.
- Live Transcription is not available in Breakout Rooms.
- Live Transcription does not by itself create a Zoom recording with embedded closed captions.
- To create a recording with embedded closed captions, you will need to Record to the Cloud
Additionally, cut and paste from “in meeting/webinar” chat is available.
These features meet security requirements for use during telehealth encounters. To comply with HIPAA standards. Telehealth Clinicians will not have access to the Cloud Recording capability.
See our service page for more information.
*Note that Live Transcription currently only supports English.
