To track your projects in Jira, you will need to populate work items to track tasks ranging from bugs to individual work tasks. These work items will moved along the swimlanes in your Jira board as milestones are reached for each item.
NOTE: Jira has a hierarchical approach to managing tasks. It is encouraged to create epics to represent projects and sub-tasks for each element of work to be completed to successfully finish the project.

Workflows are the path that your tasks will take on your Jira board from creation to resolution. Workflows in Jira are highly customizable and can be developed to fit your current project workflows.
