With the promising news about vaccines, attackers may be sending vaccine-themed phishing emails. Vaccinations will be offered to all members of the UCSF community as the vaccine supply increases. Visit the UCSF COVID-19 Vaccine Information Hub for more information, an FAQ, and regular updates on the vaccine roll-out.
Here are a few things to keep in mind while the vaccination details are being worked out:
- You can’t pay to put your name on a list to get the vaccine.
- You can’t pay to get early access to the vaccine.
- Nobody legit will call about the vaccine and ask for your Social Security, bank account, or credit card number.
As always, please be on the lookout for suspicious emails. More information about this type of phishing scam is available on the FTC website.
If you receive a suspicious email, follow these steps:
- DO NOT click on links or attachments in unsolicited emails.
- Click on “Report Phish” icon in your Outlook Message toolbar to report it. Visit https://it.ucsf.edu/service/phish-alarm. to view instructions for reporting Phish emails,
- Delete the phish email from your Inbox.
- If you think you may have responded to a phishing message, contact the IT Service Desk.
