    The UCSF secure email solution is designed to help faculty, learners and staff comply with the federal HIPAA regulations that went into effect April 21, 2005.HIPAA regulations stipulate that electronic communications containing Protected Health Information (PHI) must be transmitted in a manner that protects the confidentiality of patient information. When you send, receive or store any electronic document containing UCSF confidential or patient information, you are responsible for ensuring that the information is processed securely.

    Box Drive allows you to navigate the contents of your Box folders from a desktop application. With Box Drive installed, you will have:

    Box: Manage Email Uploads

    UCSF Box allows you to designate folder(s) in which users can email files directly to Box by sending an attachment to a unique email address.Email attachments will be uploaded as long as they do not collectively exceed 80 MB.The body of the email will not be uploaded.The upload is secure because Box scans every attachment before it is uploaded to Box and quarantines the attachment if malware is discovered.Once the file has been posted to Box, CipherCloud will scan it for UCSF PHI as it would

    Box: Automated Deprovisioning of Separated Users

    An email reminder is sent to a Box user and their supervisor to transfer ownership of their files before they separate from UCSF to prevent the loss of access to shared content immediately upon the user’s separation. NOTE: If the person leaving is still a part of UCSF, he or she can transfer folder ownership by following these instructions.
