Problem/Request

  • How to use the equipment mounted on a Capsa WOW.

Environment

  • Location is at BCH Oakland
  • WOW model is Capsa
  • Handheld Barcode Scanner model is Honeywell
  • PC model is Cybernet

Badge reader

  • The badge reader is built into the left side of the monitor on the Cybernet All-in-One (AIO) PC.
    • Behind the monitor, you will see a blue “RFID” sticker. Tap here where the badge reader is located.
    • An easy way to swipe is to put your badge halfway up the left side of the monitor, and slide down until you hear a beep.

Barcode scanners

  • The scanner needs to be inserted into the base correctly to charge when not in use.
    • You will see a green flashing light next to a red light on the front of the base to indicate it is charging.
    • Leaving the scanner off the base will drain the battery and reduce its life.

  • The barcode scanners have been pre-configured for use in APeX in the departments that require it.
    • It is best practice to keep the scanner paired to the same base, to prevent scanning issues.

  • If the scanner will not scan:
    • Try to re-pair the handheld by scanning the barcode found on the back of the base. This normally corrects most issues.
    • If the scanner does scan barcodes, but it is not working within APeX, try resetting the configuration. See Honeywell Barcode Scanner Tip Sheet.

For Cybernet PCs with Batteries

  • If the AIO PC on this WOW has batteries, they are located on the back of the monitor, at the top. There are three in total.
    • Only one battery needs to be charged in order for the computer to remain on.
    • The battery charge status is indicated by three little lights on the top right-hand side of the computer.
      • Green means the battery is good. Red means it should be swapped out.

  • To replace the battery, pull the door forward and swap the battery one at a time to open it. Opening the doors to access the batteries disconnects the battery. Therefore, if the battery door is left open, the computer will not use that battery, and will move on to the next one in line. If all three doors are open at the same time, this will cause the computer to shut down, even if all the batteries are charged.
    • Look for the black tab on the top of the battery.
    • Pull the battery straight up and out from the tab.
    • When inserting the battery back into the AIO, be careful to put the battery in the correct way.
      • The label side of the battery should face the AIO. This is also labeled on the battery itself.

  • To check the charge status of a battery in the charging station, push the little button on the top of the battery near the black tab.
    • A blue indicator will appear.
    • The length of the blue indicator tells you how much life is left in the battery.
