Enabling the GlobalProtect Extension for Mac Users

To help ensure that your VPN connection with UCSF functions properly, please follow the steps below to turn on the GlobalProtect network extension on your computer:

Macs with OS Ventura (13) or Sonoma (14)

  1. Open System Settings from the Apple icon in the top-left corner of your screen.
  2. Locate and select Privacy & Security from the left-hand navigation.
  3. Scroll to the System software from application "GlobalProtect" was blocked from loading message before clicking the Allow button.

  1. If prompted with a Privacy & Security screen, enter your computer's password before clicking the Modify Settings button. NOTE: You may skip this step if you were not prompted.

  1. When this Privacy & Security dialog window disappears without any error message, the GlobalProtect configuration error will be successfully resolved!

Macs with Sequoia (15)

  1. Open System Settings from the Apple icon on the top-left corner of your screen. 
  1. Find and select General on the left pane. 
  1. On the right pane, scroll down and select Login Items & Extensions.

  1. Scroll and locate the Network Extensions option. Click on theicon as shown below.

  1. Select the GlobalProtect toggle to enable the GlobalProtectExtension

  1. If prompted with the Privacy and Security screen, enter your computer's password before clicking the Modify Settings . If you are not prompted, proceed to step 7.

  1. Once the GlobalProtectExtension switch is blue, select Done.

  1. Once this step is complete, you have successfully resolved the GlobalProtect configuration error.
