Microsoft 365: OneDrive Sync
How to Request Access
Everyone with an active UCSF email address has access to OneDrive Sync. To use OneDrive Sync on your Windows or Mac workstation, you must have OneDrive installed.
Description
OneDrive Sync allows you to sync designated folders on your computer to OneDrive. This enables users to access their files in multiple systems. Learn more about Backing up your Folders with OneDrive.
Benefits
- Automatic file backup - Files saved to a workstation's Desktop, Documents, or Pictures folder will automatically be updated.
- Seamless access to files - With your files backed up to Microsoft OneDrive, you can access your files from anywhere on the web as well as desktop and mobile devices.
- Space saving - Local storage is saved by storing files in the cloud that can be downloaded as needed in your work.

Limitations
OneDrive is not intended to be a full backup solution. OneDrive sync will work as a backup solution for most users, but there are some restrictions and limitations. Learn more about the Restrictions and Limitations in OneDrive and SharePoint.
NOTE: On Macs, only OneDrive from our standard MS Office installer or from our Jamf Self Service app portal support OneDrive sync. The OneDrive app from the Mac App Store does not support OneDrive sync.
