Box Sync to Box Drive

Overview Box Sync and Box Drive are two separate desktop applications that give you access to your Box content from your computer's desktop instead of your accessing Box via the web. Box Sync gives you access only to the folders you marked for offline access. Box Drive gives you access (1) to all your Box content while you're connected to the internet and (2) to the folders you marked for offline access when you're not connected to the internet.  We will retire Box Sync mid-2020.

Box Drive

Overview Box Drive is an application that lets you access your folders and content outside of the web browser, directly from a folder on your desktop. Drive streams your entire Box account and consumes only local storage for folders you have marked for offline.  All folders and files marked for offline use are stored locally on the hard drive as well as in Box. Your offline changes are automatically uploaded when you reconnect to the internet.

Box: CipherCloud (.ccsecure) Encryption

Overview Secure Box allows UCSF Box users to store restricted data while protecting UCSF and our patients, staff and students from data loss. We launched CipherCloud on Monday, October 3, 2016. In November 2016 we began scanning files that were already on Box.  Note: We are only scanning for UCSF PHI. We are not scanning multimedia formats (e.g., image, video, audio files, scanned PDFs) or files over 400MB. What is Secure Box? With the implementation of CipherCloud, UCSF Box users will see the following changes.
